Recipes x component and lineal help

I’m trying to add 8 screws for every 2 metres to this gutter. I’ve linked the recipe properly, but I think I’m doing something wrong. It only shows “2.0 screws per 2m”, and even when I scale the gutter, it still shows the same number of screws.

You can see what I mean in the Image

Basically, I need to make sure that there are 8 screws for every 2m section. I already checked with Grant and followed his instructions, but I still haven’t been able to solve it.

Also, I’ve already created the recipe for the brackets we normally use. I noticed that when I select different brackets and run the take-off, it shows the correct quantities. But when I duplicate the bracket (x3) and run the take-off again, it only shows the recipe for one bracket.

Hi Drafting_G1,

BIM Tool Size Field
The length entered in the Size field of the :beam_tool: Beam Tool doesn’t change when the geometry of the object is adjusted, so the value needs to be updated for each object. For the object selected in your screenshot, change the value entered in the Size field to 4m & Submit the change, then it should appear correctly in your takeoff.

Tip: Since each object would be a component, make sure to make it unique (right-click > Make Unique) before adjusting the size &/or other info that needs to be different. Note: This is likely why you duplicated objects aren’t appearing separately or as expected.

Takeoff Recipes
The issues you’re having with recipes are due to the values entered in the Equation/Multipler & Qty Multiple fields (I’ve explained how these fields work in the points below with some examples). If you update the values in these fields as per the image below it should give you the result you’re after.

  • The Equation/Multiplier field works out how many items are needed per measure according to the value in the Amount field (which can be manually entered or linked with the value of an item from the main table). Example: If 8 screws are needed every 2m of gutter & the gutter section is 4m, then the Qty would be 16.
  • The Qty Multiple field rounds the Qty field to the next increment of the specified number when Round is enabled. Example: If Qty is 16 but needs to be in increments of 5, then the Qty Multiple should be 5.

**Hi Grant , I just had a couple of quick questions regarding the roof sheets and the recipe setup:

  1. When adding the price for the roof sheets, should it be based on square metres or linear metres?** For example, if a sheet is 1.50 m long, how should we include that information for accurate pricing?
  2. Also, is it possible to add a buffer to the quantities in the recipe?** For instance, if a bracket normally uses 16 screws, how could we add an extra allowance to cover that?

Thanks again!

Add the price per sqm.
You can use a recipe to divide the effective cover of the sheet eg 765mm to add a price per lineal.
