when i create a roof and add roof framing some of the rafters do not appear what am i doing wrong
Hi Les_Blechynden,
I had a look at the model you sent over & can replicate the issue. At the moment I’m not sure what’s causing the issue but it’s with the the development team who are looking into it further.
In the meantime, what I can recommend is to use the options in the Alternatives section of the Rafter Tool dialog to add the missing members.
Alternatively, you could also manually add the missing roof framing members by duplicating the rafters (using copy-move is recommended to save time) & adjusting the rafters geometry (length, mitres, etc) as needed. Note: Since this is a manual edit the changes will be lost if the group is edited using a PlusSpec tool.
Tip: The length of most framing members throughtout the software can be edited by right-clicking on the member & selecting either the extended or split option under the + BEAMS option.
I did also notice that in your model there was a skewed wall which likley would’ve caused the roof to also have a skewed side. In the image below, the colour of the lines signifies what axis the geometry is aligned with. However the lines for the wall, roof & roof framing are black meaning they aren’t aligned with an axis, which may partly be contributing to the issue you’re having.
thank you let me know what comes of it i will try to fix manually
the rafters draw when i have an overhang but if i edit the roof to be no overhang using reverse jerkinhead the rafters do not draw
when i draw a rafter and extend or split it no longer shows up in my take off is this correct as i need an accurate take off
Hi Les_Blechynden,
I did some testing I’m also getting the issue you’re having after splitting/extending the roof framing. Thank you for bringing it to our attention, I’ve passed it onto the development team to look into. As soon as the issue is resolved an update will be released.
In the mean time, I would recommend manually editing the roof framing geometry as needed (i.e. adjusting the length &/or number of lengths) as this should still appear in the Takeoff.
