I need to add a Cricket to roof up against wall. the cricket is not the total length of the roof so I didn’t use the convert hip to gable so I tried making a dormer with the dormer starting at the roof line instead of moving the line back up the roof and then changing it from a hip to a gable. Everything worked fine except I couldn’t change the pitch on the dormer so that It wouldn’t go into the roof above. Please advise. see attached
Hi Steve_B,
I would recommend creating small, separate roof for each instance of the cricket. I’ve outlined the steps to do this in the ‘Recommended Steps’ section below. Tip: This method can also be used to A) create alfresco roof extensions when you want to distinguish between existing & new roof materials (for BOQ’s); & B) create dormers (especially if they have different pitch to the rest of the roof).
Recommended Steps
- Draw a rectangle & making sure the dimensions are; face width = length of the wall, face width = 1mm/0.1".
- Using the
Hip Roof Tool, generate a roof from the face. Note: Make sure to use a 0 overhang for this roof.
- Using the
Edit Roof Pitch/Gable Tool, create a gable (pitch = 90 or 1:0) with a 0 overhang on the side that’s against the wall.
- Using the
Edit Roof Pitch/Gable Tool, edit the side opposite the gable you just created & “over-pitch” it so it matches the pitch of the adjoining roof (i.e. 180 - adjoining roof pitch = “over-pitch” value).
- Move the roof into the desired position.

You can also right-click the roof using "Remove/delete face and draw in the new section using the Skillion/sloping roof tool
