Export & View Your 3D Model In A Browser

I’m trying to send my client the 3D model that I created for him so I watched the video 3D Model Viewer: How To Export & View Your 3D Model In A Browser. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCsMkcDf7OE then uploaded the file to my Gdrive and emailed the link to test it. When I opened the link in another computer, it opened up the computer program for the file so it didn’t show the 3D model. Would my Clients be able to open it up in the free version of sketchup because when I opened the file on my own computer it was very slow and of poor quality. the size of the file is 7.38 MB.

Hi Steve_B,

If the exported files doesn’t open in the browser as expected you may need to specify the app to open the file type in. To do this, right-click on the exported file & select Open with > Google Chrome (or other browser) it should then open the model as expected. From then onward you should be able to just double-click on the file type to open it.
Note: If you select ‘Choose another app’, you can select to ‘Always’ open that file type opened in the selected app from then onwards.

If you’re using SketchUp 23 or below you can backsave the model so that older SketchUp version can open the model to view (this includes the free version - SketchUp 17). You could also use the Trimble Connect feature to share models but I’m not sure how far back this feature is available (I do know SketchUp 24 & 25 have it though).
