Two questions: screenshot below, two doors in the same wall.
Door tag hidden by door swing.
Door on the right the door tag is hidden by the door swing (highlighted in blue). Other than drilling down and manually hiding the tag, is there an easier way to make the tag visible?
Orientation of door tag
Door on the left the tag is visible because I selected the door swing and HIDE it from view. The door tag is upside down. Other than drilling down and manually rotating the tag, is there an easier way to change the orientation.
Regarding the hidden tag by the door swing, it may be due to the active style for that scene not having material transparency enabled. Is this the case with the issue you’re having? To check if it is, please follow the steps outlined in the section below. Note: I would recommend against hiding the face as it will make it harder to change the door swing direction of that door & likely other instances where a door swing is present.
Checking Material Transparency
Make sure you’re on the desired scene (e.g. Floor Plan 1). This just helps with future steps.
Go to the Styles section of the tray.
Click on the Edit tab.
Click on Face Settings icon (second icon across).
Locate the Material transparency option & ensure it’s ticked. If it’s not, tick it & continue with the next steps.
Right-click on the active scene & select Update.
Select the Update the selected style option from the prompt that appears. This will apply the changes to all scenes that use this style.
Regarding the orientation of the door tag, there currently isn’t a way to change this other than drilling down & manually rotating the tag. I will also take this back to the development team for further discussion. Note: If you decide to do use this method, please keep in mind that it’s considered a manual edit & would be reverted if/when the wall is edited using a PlusSpec tool, so I’d recommend doing it at the end.
@Grant Could you make it onclick easily?
Personally, I tag doors in Layout, as it gives me more control over the call-out’s style, colour and font.
This is a good video for annotating doors and windows in Layout. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvFYLsZnwBI
The video is old, yet it has another option/way of adding details to doors and windows inside Layout with models created using PlusSpec.
The fastest way to create Window schedules is:
Draw windows in your model using the then click In PlusArchitect and PlusDesignBuild (this does not work in PlusSpec Pro)
Click export Takeoff
Select Export Window & Door schedule
Choose your preferred Unit of measure (Metric units or Imperial units)
Click submit and open the created CSV (it is saved in the same location as your Sketchup model)
Edit the CSV column widths and text if need be and save
Open up your Layout Plan and click File>Insert, then navigate to your CSV/Excel file and click Open
Your Excel spreadsheet will now show and be linked inside of Layout. If you need to make changes, make them inside the Spreadsheet> Save & then go to Layout, right-click the window schedule and click Update.
If drafting is your main objective, ensure you go and look at other examples of documents created by other PlusSpec users here. 2D DRAWINGS GALLERY - PlusSpec
Unfortunately it’s not an easy thing. Objects that have an OnClick functionality have a tendency to revert to the default state whenever the overall object is edited using a PlusSpec tool (i.e. editing a wall will revert the text rotation), plus each instance would need to be clicked on multiple times to adjust the text to the desired rotation.
The easiest & likely ideal option would be to add a field(s) in the dialog that would adjust the text rotation so the text rotation/position would be retained when editing walls & also when placing new openings.
