What would be the right selection for wall here in Miami?

Hi team,

I was trying to play around with the program but I see that there a lot of stuff I can do since the trial version doesn’t let me even save the changes in a simple wall structure… it lets me draw it but I can’t change a thing… am I correct or I am doing something wrong? let me know. By the way, what would be the right selection for wall since here in Miami we use 98% of the time cinderblock 8x16.

Eduardo
Pro plan (PlusSpec version Rbz 24.8.0)

Hi Eduardo,

That’s odd, you should be able to edit a wall no matter what version you have installed. I’ve also tried to replicate the issue using the latest version (v24.8.0) but it worked for me as expected. To help me diagnose the issue, I have some some questions that I’ve listed below.

  1. What kind of changes are you trying to make to the wall?
  2. If you open the Ruby Console (go to Extensions > Developer > Ruby Console) then try to replicate the issue, does an error message appear? If so, can you please send it to me?

From the info you provided, I would recommend using the Single Masonry wall & then selecting a block material from the material field dropdown list. Note: If the material or size you want isn’t available in the list you can create your own materials via the Create / Manage button located below the material field & following the steps.

My guess, Eduardo, is you are a Sketchup user, and you have either drilled inside of a wall or exploded a wall. This is a typical workflow for a Sketchup user, so it makes sense. However, PlusSpec automates all of this for you. I suggest watching the beginner tutorials and using the forum directly.

Cinder block wall Miami estimating and design in Sketchup using PlusSpec1

@Grant , I assume “cinderblock 8x16” is a default material? If not, please create it and add all standard concrete /cinderblocks to the USA library.
