Best way to put together a wall for reuse, parametric that consists of different materials?
Hi StefanSedman,
Thank you for your post.
Currently, there are two ways this can be done.
- Draw the different wall variations in a SketchUp model (off to the side preferably) then save the model as a template so they will always be there when you draw new models. Then all you need to do is right-click on the desired wall and select ‘+ WALLS > Create Similar Wall’. This will open the Wall Tool dialog with all the options & values from the selected wall so you can then draw it in your model.
- Draw the different wall variations and then save them to your SketchUp Component Library. Here is a video which explains how this can be done - https://youtu.be/IXRvzxu-geI
Would you be able to please let me know if this works for you?
See, it pays to surf the forum to check out all the posts.
I was wondering how you could save a specific wall type to reuse…hadn’t thought about saving it out as a template file/component & using the “Create Similar” in the Wall Tool drop down choices.
Good thinking 99
Guys I make full wall, floor & roof assemblies and create them as a component in my component library. I call these vignettes, and then I use “create similar” on each part of the drawing. This speeds up the drawing and selection process and comes in handy when designing and building passive homes in fact any type of detail.
I did a video or two on our Youtube Chanel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=061ZZvhDQFw
Or you can simply google search “vignette PlusSpec”
