I was watching your recent video on circular walls and noticed the take off tool he used was totally different than what I see (ie. built in it seemed, as opposed to an html export.) Then I went to do one (which I don't use all the time) and it is giving me rather than a tallied total just a listing of all the numbers that should be totaled. It didn't used to do that, and I can't say when it started but it is not right. Do you have any idea what is going on there?
Hi Dawson, it would be great to see a screenshot of this.
The Video you saw would be using PlusDesignBuild which is a more advanced version of PlusSpec especially in the takeoff/estimating arena, but for you, it may be like hitting a thumb tack with a sledge hammer. Can I ask what you are using PlusSpec for?
Hi Emily, thanks for the response, and sorry for not checking sooner…
I use plus spec for house design. I’m not actually the one pricing them usually, but clients do want to have an idea. I used to get a reasonable html estimate, but now I am just getting these lists of all the pieces, without the tallies. You can see at the bottom the start of the string of numbers that are to be tallied, but aren’t. It goes way off the page to the right where there are many more (they are centered). Thoughts?
HI there, so I gather no one has seen this before so it doesn’t require attention? There used to be some attention to support here, but I’m not seeing much now. It’s even more frustrating when something that worked before isn’t now, with no explanation. I’d love to hear some feedback.
So sorry for the lack of response!! The forum is monitored on a weekly basis, but for some reason this topic hasn’t been listing in the active topics on our end and we’re not really sure why, just stumbled upon it by chance now In future if you wish to get a quick answer (especially with something that seems to be a bug like this) feel free to reach out to us by submitting a ticket on our support page here: support.plusspec.com/hc/en-us
Thanks for being so patient for a reply, I’m not exactly sure what’s going on here, it’s quite the strange one! Is this problem happening across all categories in the takeoff or just the flooring?
Just to confirm, are you using the latest version of PlusSpec? (v21.1 - you can update on the website here if need be: buy.plusspec.com/users/sign_in)
If you are using the latest version and you’re still getting this problem, do you think you could send me the model this is happening on to support@rubysketch.com and we’ll take a look at what’s going on ASAP.
Hope to get this one sorted out as quick as we can. Thanks Dawson.
Thanks for that. Strange that my inquiries weren’t showing up…
It had been doing it across all layers as you asked.
That did straighten that part out. I don’t remember hearing about another update, and on loading it said I was up to date. However, having updated I have noticed a couple of things:
The tally still doesn’t seem right. At least they are tallies of a kind, but the supply tally doesn’t make sense to me. It seems like the supply cost isn’t tallying at the bottom. Each Item seems to be ok, but not the total. Here’s a shot:
Also, I’m finding the dialogues slow to come up. I’ve been working on roofs, changing pitches. After I’ve done the first one, the rest take a long while to option the options dialogue. Any thoughts on that?
Glad the update fixed up the strange tally, thanks for reporting! We did recently have a report that some users weren’t being prompted to update their license, we’ve looked into it and there seemed to have been a problem with the previous version notifications, really sorry the message didn’t get through! We’ve fixed it up so it won’t happen in future versions.
I’m just having a look at the totals now and from the calculations I did all seems to be calculating as expected. The totals down the very bottom outside of the table or the totals for the entire project, see the attached file for an explanation.
Let me know if that answers your questions (If I’ve missed something, if you could just highlight where you’re talking about in the screenshot it will just help me to get the right answer to you a bit quicker
Again if you are after some more advanced estimating tools, they’re available in PlusDesignBuild, but I understand you mentioned you mostly focus on the design side of things.
It looks good what you’ve shown, but if you look at it the total size column adds up, as does the fit column, but the Supply&fit column just adds the Unit fit # to the supply number (in this case it adds 4. It should be 54515 not 23368) Big difference! NOt that these numbers are actually accurate, the total for fit being only 3000 while supply is 26000 doesn’t seem right. I am assuming that when doing the pricing the supply is done per ftsq (or whatever unit), and the fit is the same, not just a job total (where that number could be added and make sense)? Let me know if that makes sense,
