I am moving floor trusses (Posi’s) to suit wastes, shower areas etc… Some trusses move no problem at all, however some when I move them leave behind an outline of the truss in the previous location. What could I be doing wrong to cause this?
When you click into the group until you can select each individual truss you should be able move the beams without any problem or leaving any lines behind (like shown in the GIF below), so I’m not sure how or why this could be happening.
However, below are some possible reasons for your issue/results (after seeing the image you sent to support earlier). If they aren’t the reason, would you be able to please send the model to support@plusspec.com so I can look further into it? Thanks in advance.
SketchUp or graphics card issue. Note: Closing & opening SketchUp may resolve the issue, otherwise try restarting your computer.
Geometry behind the beams (e.g. from a DWG file or manually drawn geometry) making it appear like there’s another beam there (viewing from a top-down parallel view).
After looking through the model I saw that there was additional geometry outside of the truss group that was overlapping with the beams, which gave the result you’re experiencing. Without knowing all the steps taken I’m not sure what’s caused this, however a couple of possibilities are that geometry was exploded or geometry was intersected with other geometry.
To resolve the issue & clean up the model, here are the steps I’d reccomend. The GIF shows a visual of these steps.
Move the truss group up & away from the rest of the model (2m or whatever distance you’d like). Note: This is to expose the additional geometry.
Double/Triple-click on the additional geometry & delete it.
Move the truss group back down & into the original position.
Tip: Use SHIFT or the up arrow to lock the move along the blue/vertical axis.
