You build a 4 wall structure in standard mode
you separately select opposite walls and edit them to gable mode
then you select all connected walls and generate roof.
the default roof generated is a hip roof not a gable roof…why?

Hi Garry,
Thank you for your post.
The reason this is happening is that the roof is generated in the same manner as if you drew a face in your model and selected it, then created the roof from it. Once the roof is drawn you will need to use the ‘Edit Roof Pitch/Gable Tool’ (you can right-click on the roof and select ‘+ ROOF > Edit Roof Pitch/Add Gable’) and click on a roof faces to edit it into a gable (see image below for more details). Please note that you will need to do this for all sides of the roof you wish to edit or create a gable at.
Would you be able to please let me know if this works for you?
hi grant
thanx for your prompt reply. the explanation in your reply, i knew - its a standard plusspec tool.
i was just thinking of an easier/quicker way of doing it - in lieu of generating a hip and adapting it to gable ends.
i just thought, if you had drawn your walls - standard, then edited 2 to be gables, the roof i desired would be generated. A thought, is it possible to develop?
cheers garry
Hi Garry,
I’m not sure how difficult it will be do develop as currently our tools are separate and don’t link between each other but I will pass the suggestion onto the development team for further discussion.
Thank you for the suggestion.
