Foundation Stem Wall Ledges

Hey All,

New to PlusSpec

I am wondering how to put an internal ledge on my foundation Stem wall. I am hoping to have a 4" wide ledge 16" tall so that my floor joist end up flush with the top of the foundation wall

Hi Cory, what will your joist sit on? Will it be a girder on an engaged pier? Or do you bolt a plate to the wall and use joist hangers?
If you’ve got a 2d detail, or plan, can you attach a screenshot so we can help you achieve the best result.
My best guess is youll use a double masonry wall and set the internal skin down the depth of the floor joist and fixing plate. This can be done using the double masonry wall but can also be done with any wall type by overriding the cladding height.

  1. Type in 12" and the external skin drill drop
  2. Type -12" and the external skin will rise.

I am looking for the inverse on a brick ledge, where the joist will sit on the foundation wall. See attached .

My work around is to create a 2nd wall on top of the foundation wall. Align the exterior faces. Then LOCK both walls so they stay aligned.
