Error loop in PDB take off break down

Hi,

I am just getting going with designbuild and the pricing take off module. A couple of times I have gotten into a situation where I have entered a wrong character which it informs me of with an error dialogue and an OK button. Problem is I can’t get past it. I click OK and it just comes up again seemingly to infinity.

I managed by trying to quickly close the take off window between when I click OK and it opens a new one. Am I missing something there (besides putting oin the wrong thing in the first place)?

Thanks! I look forward to delving deeper and getting it working for me…

Hi Dawson,

That sounds really odd & isn’t something I’ve come across before. Would you be able to please provide the following information so we can try to replicate the issue?

  • What were the steps taken to get the issue?
  • What character or text used when issue occurs?
  • Which area(s) of the takeoff &/or software is this issue appearing for you?
  • If you’re able to get it working again, what steps are you doing to achieve this?

If you are able to also provide any takeoff export data (like prices or templates) that could also be helpful. If you don’t want to send your takeoff export data over the forum, please send it via email to tyler@rubysketch.com.

Hi Grant,

It was simply just having I think an ~ before the price number in the cost window for that item. Of course I tried to replicate it today and it worked fine. 1 warning, and then I was able to change it. I have seen it another time in the past, but that isn’t helpful. I’ll keep my eye open for it next time and keep notes.

Sorry for the trouble. Its annoying when I have an issue, write looking for help, but can’t find it anymore.

Cheers

Hi Dawson,

I’ll take that info back to the development team for further discussion & see if anything can be done to reduce the issue happening in the future. Hopefully it doesn’t happen for you again but we appreciate you keeping an eye out for it. :slightly_smiling_face:

Out of curiosity, were you wanting to enter ~ into the price field or was it an accident?

Certainly an accident. I think I was going for the 1. Clumsy fingers :upside_down_face:
