If anyone is having an issue when drawing a roof and cannot make a gable or something weird is happening, make sure the face you’re generating the roof from is not out of square. The following image shows an example of this. The reason the roof reacts like this is when the user was drawing they didn’t use the SHIFT key when lining up walls and/or edges (the highlighted edges in the image show this). The roof will show correctly as a hip roof but an error will when trying to create a gable.
