Doors tools swing not showing & outer wall construction dissapearing

Hi, I’ve previously used PS and now I’ve resubscribed. On the new version the door swings aren’t showing up so I can’t hand a door with the interact tool any ideas on a fix (SkP2024).
Also I might be doing something wrong but when I put a door into my external walls the brickwork internally and externally vanishes. Is this about a reference location when I add the door in?

Hi user55,

Welcome back!

That’s odd, the door swings are appearing for me. The door swings are assigned to the Floor Plan A tag/layer, can you please confirm whether this tag/layer is turned on (it should be in the 9 Documentation folder)? Another possibility could be that the door swings are appearing under some geometry.

If you make a change to a wall & materials disappear it’s normally due to missing materials in the dialog. If you edit the wall (via the :wall_tool: Wall Tool) & navigate to the Materials Selections & Finishes section, are there materials selected for the material fields or are they appearing as “none”? If this is correct, look through the material field for the correct materials to apply to the wall & apply the changes.
If the desired material doesn’t appear in the list check you have the correct Material Library installed in the Settings Tool (go to Extensions > PlusSpec > Settings). Note: If you have the Australia library installed, also make sure the correct State is selected. If this is all correct you may need to sync your materials using the :sync_tool: Sync Tool to make sure they are up to date.

Yep that was the problem, no idea why the materials I used for time around disappeared from the UK selection. I’ve synced my materials and now I have a lot less plasterboard options in the UK, how’s that work?
Thanks for the help

Hi user55,

I’m happy to hear the original issue was resolved.

The current default UK material library does have less materials than our other two current material libraries (only slightly less than the USA library) so that does sound correct. However, if there’s considerably less materials try syncing your materials again as there’s a change not all materials synced, but this is very rare. Note: We always recommend closing & reopening SketchUp after syncing to ensure the changes are applied.

If there are any materials that you’d like added to your material library, you can do so via either of the following options.

OPTION 1: Create your own materials. This can be done by following the steps below.

Option 1 Steps
  1. Select the Create/Manage button under the material field you want to add the material to. Tip: Before clicking the button, in the material field select a material with a similar material size or texture/colour image to the one you want to create as it will save you time for the next.
  2. Enter the info for the material & click Create Material From Template.
  3. Add the material by either of the following methods:
    A) Left-click & hold on the image preview & drag in into the dialog into the area marked Drop Your Dragged Material Here [Windows computers only]. Tip: This is easiest done when both the created material page & SketchUp are shown on the screen together.
    B) Via the :sync_tool: Sync Tool.
  4. The materials should now appear in the dialogs for you to use.

OPTION 2: Add other user created materials to your material library. This can be done by following the steps below.

Option 2 Steps
  1. Go to the :public_user_created_material_library: Public User Created Library Tool.
  2. Search for the name & country of the material(s) you want. Tip: The Country dropdown was intended to be tagged for where the material can be found, however, you may find the material(s) you want in a different county than what’s selected.
  3. Select the material(s) you want to add to your material library, then click Add Selected materials To My Library when you’re happy with your selections.Note: The materials are grouped together via the category of the material to show where they will appear in the software & to also make it easier to find the material you’re after.
  4. Select Get Materials Now to launch the :sync_tool: Sync Tool. Alternatively, you can click Continue Browsing which will take you back so you can do steps 2 & 3 again.
  5. Once the sync has completed he materials should now appear in the dialogs for you to use. Tip: Close & open SketchUp to ensure the changes appear.

IMPORTANT
You can delete any material created or added to your material library by following the steps below.

Steps
  1. Select Create/Manage under any material field.
  2. Select Manage My Materials (located at the top of the page).
  3. Click Remove for each material you wish to delete.

Note: To apply these changes, you will need to sync afterwards.

Welcome back, @GaryT , it would be handy if you could change your user name when you get a minute. It is in the preferences (top right)
My guess is you either:

  1. Created your own materials, in which case you should be able to log in under your original email address and re-sync.
  2. You used another library EG USA or Australia. As far as I am aware, we have not reduced the amount of materials in any country.
