I’ve been trying to create an external wall with the following construction:
External Cladding 20mm
35 x 70mm Vertical Batten
Extasana 1.5-3mm
140mm Wide Frame with R4.5 HD Batt
Intello 1.5-3mm
45 x 70mm Vertical Batten
Gyprock 10mm
I’m not having much luck, so i was hoping you could suggest the best practice to create the wall please?
I don’t need to see every component in the model, as long as I have the correct thickness, and the external and internal linings are shown, that would be great!!
I will need to allow for all the components in the take off though??
Thank you for your post and my apologies for the delayed response.
To get the required overall size of the wall I would recommend doing the following: (Note: Currently battens can’t be drawn with walls)
Use the ‘Lightweight Framed With Cladding’ wall type.
Create materials for each of the different parts. For the external battens, I would adjust the ‘Cavity’ field in the Manual Overrides section. For the gyprock material, I would create a material with a thickness of the internal batten + the gyprock thickness but still label the material as “10mm”.
To get everything to appear in the takeoff then you’ll need to also draw the battens using one of the following methods.
Use the Beam Tool to draw the battens. I would recommend this option as you can draw one batten then copy-move them so they can be evenly spaced and save you time.
Use the Floor Joist Tool or Ceiling Joist Tool.
Would you be able to please let me know if this works for you?
