Bearers...

HI there,

I’m not sure I understand how you guys use bearers. Over here we use sill plates (footers, called different things) they are anchored right to the foundation, and is what the rest of the building (floors generally, but could be walls) is attached to. They are generally 2x6 or so on the flat (the metric equivalent I don’t know off hand). I tried making a bearer of that dimension by changing the thickness to the width. I just got an error. Is there an easy way to do this that I am missing?

Not that it matters really, but how do you use bearers? they just seem like more floor joists…

Thank you for your post.

I believe the way you were trying to create a material for the bearers/sill plates was the correct method but there might have been an incorrect value entered somewhere along the line.

Would you be able to please take a screenshot of the create material page with all the values you entered to create the material? I should hopefully then be able to see where the error might be.
